Treatment for Common Ailments

There are eight PHCs in the project area, one Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) and 5 Ambulances. Despite  of so many PHCs  Chenchu community were not accessing these services regularly due to distance from habitations, lack of sympathy from health staff, absence of health staff at the PHCs, not keeping ambulances in ready condition and the Chenchu people’s own apathy. BDS under took an awareness creation programme at the people’s level and simultaneously sensitized the PHC Doctors who have been posted recently. The efforts of awareness among the Chenchu Community and sensitization of PHC staff started yielding results and presently more and more Chenchus are accessing health care services. PHC Doctors are responding positively to the Medical requirements of the Chenchu Community and started providing services through frequent visits to the Chenchu habitations.
